Greek Gay Party Leader Has Eyes Set on PM

28/10/2023

Aussie gay magazine DNA has some good news from one of Europe's more conservative countries, Greece, where the centre left opposition party Syriza has a new leader, and he's the an openly gay man. On Sunday, September 24, Greek-American businessman Stefanos Kasselakis won the election to become leader.  He is the first openly gay leader of a political party in Greece and has his eyes set on the Prime Ministership.   Mr Kasselakis has promised to increase public spending on education, replace mandatory military service with a professional army, separate church and state, and championing queer rights.  Kasselakis gave a speech thanking his supporters and calling for an end to right-wing politics. “The light won,” he says. “I am not a phenomenon. I am the voice of society. I’m never going to betray you.”  https://www.dnamagazine.com.au/
