Advertising can sometimes be a strange bedfellow for LGBTQIA Pride, and there is a healthy scepticism amongst many on the activist left of the LGBT+ movement about corporations who promote diversity. Nevertheless, there are also many gay and trans people who appreciate seeing representation of their lives in the commercial sphere. This week, the kitchen towel brand Plenty have launched a new television and online commercial, in which a man uses the towel to clean up little wees of excitement from his cute but somewhat incontinent pet dog. Towards the end of the commercial, the man's boyfriend turns up and is duly urinated on by said dog in an endearing if somewhat unusual snapshot of gay married life. A number of LGBTQIA people welcomed the representation from the kitchen towel brand and pledged to purchase some when next out shopping.
