THT Remembers and Looks Forward to 2030

17/07/2023

On July 4th, the UK's largest HIV organisation, the Terrence Higgins Trust, issued a statement saying "Forty-one years ago today, Terry Higgins passed away. He was just 37 years old, one of the first to die from AIDS, and no one could comprehend the torrent of pain that this epidemic was about to unleash.  But from their grief and anger, Terry’s friends, in their full activist spirit, started Terrence Higgins Trust with a mission to educate and inform – to help stop the onward transmission of HIV and to be there for everyone living with HIV. Today, thanks to you, we are still here, and we are tantalizing close to achieving a core goal – to end new transmissions of HIV by 2030. You can make the difference.  Because of your relentless activism we have come so far – living with HIV is no longer the death sentence many thought it meant. Because of you people living with HIV can serve in our military, be pilots, and we’ve been able to spearhead the Can’t Pass It On message that that everyone on treatment can live long, healthy lives unable to pass on the virus."
