A new documentary on Channel Four Television aired this week looking at the life of the gay hero and amazing soul singer George Michael, who started with eighties pop band legends WHAM! and evolved into one of the UK’s greatest singer songwriters. The two part documentary, aired earlier this week considered George’s sexuality through the prism of his very public arrest in 1998 for propositioning a police enforcement officer in a public lavatory. Mr Michael refused to let the very sudden exposure of his gayness derail his career however. Instead, he came out and released tracks celebrating gay male culture, as well as videos that were knowing an humourous. The programme met with his family and friends and considered how his sexuality impacted his illustrious career. Sadly, George Michael died on Christmas Day 2016 from a heart attack. However, he left a glitterbomb of love. After his death, many charities and individuals ranging from homeless groups to Childline, revealed that he had given away vast sums of money and volunteered at the front line of services because of his caring nature and positive view of humanity.
