Jude Thorpe was profiled by the Independent Newspaper as a dementia hero as she spoke about living well with early onset of Alzhemiers, a condition which affects around seventy thousand people in the UK. Jude was encouraged by her wife, Becky Hall to explore the reasons for cognitive decline that she was experiencing, and which she first put down to the menopause. Jude said it was “very difficult” having to break the news to their two daughters, Izzy, 19, and Iona, 17, but she also felt a sense of relief, as not knowing was the “worst bit”. However, Jude is throwing herself into living her best life, raising thousands of pounds for the Alzheimers Society and Dementia UK. With the support of her friends, wife, daughters and wider suporrt networks through the charity sector, Jude is making the most out of the present and facing the future with positivity.
