Bristol has failed to make the shortlist of cities that are in the running to host the 2023 Eurovision Song Contest. The Ukraine won the popular vote in the 2022 Grand Prix of songs, but with war raging in the country, the second place country, the United Kingdom, has been asked by Eurovision bosses to host next year’s event instead. The final decision of the Eurovision 2023 host city will be made by the BBC and the EBU (European Broadcasting Union). It will be based on a city or region's capacity and capability in meeting the requirements, as well as availability of resources and general experience in hosting a large and complex event such as the Eurovision Song Contest. The Eurovision World fansite notes that there is a nothern vibe to the cities that have been shortlisted. They are Birmingham, Glasgow, Sheffield, Leeds, Liverpool, Manchester, Newcastle and Sheffield.
