Micha Collins from the hit television series Supernatural temporarily came out as bisexual during a comic and science fiction convention in New Jersey at the weekend. Mr Collins is best known as playing Castiel in the popular show. Media website Digital Spy says that Collins surveyed the audience and invited them to say whether they were “introverts, extroverts or bisexual”. “I”, he remarked “am all three”. Quite refreshingly in an age characterised by internet hate, the science fiction and fantasy community seemed more than happy at Collins’ statement and the actor was given a warm round of applause and lots of people tweeted their support on social media. One remarked “"So happy actually happy doesn't begin to explain the feelings I have for this. @mishacollins you are so loved by your fans and I hope you know that deeply." But after several days of celebrations, Collins tweeted that his language had been clumsy, that he was straight but a “fierce ally” of the LGBTQIA communities. He apologised for appearing to mislead fans, but experienced little bitterness in various fan forums. Viewers of the “Supernatural” programme seemed happy that he had stated his allyship of the community and noted that he was at liberty to define himself as he wished.
