With nearly a million people signing a petition to government asking the state to reconsider a knighthood awarded to former Prime Minister Tony Blair, a gay Labour MP has clashed with the campaign petition organiser. Pink News reports that Angus Scott, who began the online petition, crossed swords with the Labour MP Chris Bryant on a television debate programme, when Bryant pointed out that Tony Blair had totally modernised Britain's antiquainted and homophobic laws when in power. Mr Scott responded by saying that progressive reforms of the Blair era are overshadowed by his support for the US invasion of Iraq in 2003, for which he believes Blair should answer to war crimes tribunals.
