It is important to always remember that LGBTQIA people have a wide range of philosophical and political allegiances and do not “belong” to any one movement or faction within society. That said, very few LGBTQIA folks identify with fascism. There are some that lurk on the underground web, but they are marginal both from the wider LGBTQIA scene and from the far right they pledge allegiance to. This is because fascism, Nazism, falangism and other far right movements have always been deeply homophobic and transphobic. Ernst Rohm, one of the architechts of the German Nazi Party, was a homosexual, but was quickly executed by other Nazi forces during the “Night of the Long Knives” in 1934. During the period of Nazi death camps, gay and bisexual men, gender non conforming people and political LGBT people were all subject to violent treatment, including the sinister medical experiments that have come to define Nazi human rights atrocities. Seventy years later, the far right still opposes LGBTQIA human freedoms and hence many people from our rainbow communities oppose fascism. Some are active in Antifa the radical street fighting group which confronts the far right. During December, Antifa International are raising money for Bristol Antifascists, with a t-shirt design incorporating Bristol landmarks and the anti-fascist emblem. We've popped a link up to their website in case you are interested in purchasing a T-Shirt for yourself or a Christmas present.
