The Gay and Bisexual Male Pagan Blog dedicated to the Cult of Antinous, celebrated World Cat Day at the weekend. LGBTQIA people are more likely than heterosexual and cisgender people to be passionate about animal welfare. Many of us are active in animal rights groups or take personalised action such as being vegetarian or vegan. Others follow ancient shamanic paths in their spirituality and have animal guides on their faith journeys. One of our fellow broadcasters, the national transgender radio station Trans Radio UK has a dog mascot who greets presenters at the studio. But by a very small margin, surveys suggest that cats are slightly more popular as the LGBTQIA animal companion of choice. The Antinous blog says that it is appropriate therefore that the Egyptian press reports on the excavation of a major temple at the ancient city of Alexandria on the Mediterranean coast. The temple is dedicated to the cat goddess Bastet. It is a major find as it helps locate the Royal quarter of the ancient city, founded by brilliant bisexual hero Alexander the Great. The team, which comprises 18 skilled excavators and restorers, unearthed a large collection of statues depicting the cat goddess Bastet.
