A “purge” is what Radio Free Europe has said. “Pulling of strings in Russia's Kremlin managed democracy” reported the BBC. Either way, the kleptokratic state, is beginning to face more and more internal organised opposition, and no longer is the old narrative of blaming all of Russia's problems on sexual minorities, dissidents, and pro-Western media working. With support for Vladimir Putin's ruling “One Russia” Party failing, the state is beginning to round up opposition politicians and is rushing new legislation through the compliant partliament that will stop oppositional parties, both left and right, from standing against the government, labelling them as extremists , even terrorists. There is little doubt that Putin will ensure his own victory in the polls, but with yet more arrests, and bans, the narrative maintained by Russia on its worldwide TV and internet networks, that it is a liberal democracy interested only in peace, will seem further and further from reality.
