LGBT television viewers have been quick to embrace new technologies, and surveys suggest that the queer population have been quick to adopt newer concepts such as the internet, smart phones and video streaming services, which is good news for younger people, as these media have done so much to liberate our people and allow easy communication and organisation, even in countries where our rights are threatened. However, there are still gay people who enjoy older media, like the gay press, and traditionally delivered television media. If you're one of these, you might like to know that “Together TV” is new to freeview platforms across the UK, after some months running on cable only services. The channel is run by the same company responsible for the “Community Channel” and in fact took over its frequencies after a reorganisation and recalibration of its services. The service is aimed at a mostly female audience, and will offer uplifting and human interest programming from lunchtime daily until the small hours. There promises to be plenty to interest LGBT people. Programmes already aired have included a look at the British pornographic industry including input from gay and bi people who have found their identities through online adult services. And a series of programmes from gay stylist Gok Wan. The channel is available on Freeview 89, Sky 194, Virgin Media 269 and Freesat 164.
