Shanah Tovah to LGBTQIA+ Jews and Friends

24/09/2025

Channel Four television in the UK included Shanah Tovah greetings in its programming and commercial breaks on Tuesday, as the Jewish community prepares to celebrate the festival of Rosh Hashanah, the Jewish New Year.  And we at ShoutOut follow their example, especially noting that LGBTQIA+ Jewish organisations are sending greetings at this special time of year.  The Jewish New Year usually falls in mid September.  In the Hebrew calendar, we are at the beginning of the Year 5786.

In Judaism, the next three weeks, up to the festival of Yom Kippur, which falls on the evening of Wednesday 1st October in the Gregorian (western) calendar, are known as the Season of High Days and Holidays and are a special time of the year.  The LGBTQIA+ Jewish group Keshet UK, welcomes everyone, Jew and gentile alike, to browse their resources on the period kicked off by Rosh Hashanah and learn more about the LGBTQIA+ contribution to Jewish life and British life.
