Council Member Denies Homophobic, Racist Post

16/07/2025

In Groveland, Florida, a local councilwoman is being held to account over several tweets over a period of years, which were discovered and published in a local newspaper.  Judi Fike, a right winger in the mould of Donald Trump, is alleged to have portrayed former President Barack Obama as an ape, and suggested that patrons of the Pulse Nightclub, where an anti-gay gunman killed over fifty in 2016, should have been thrown off buildings.  Ms Fike responded by claiming that some of the posts were out of context and that she actually wanted to condemn people who disliked LGBTs.  She also said that the most racist of the posts were not her handiwork.  Ms Fike has been suspended by the Council, but she is countersuing saying that they do not have such authority.  News Source:  LGBTQIA Nation.
