Abortion Rights UK headed up a coalition of pro-choice reproductive charities and organisations on 31st August to counter the annual anti-choice march in London made up largely of highly conservative religious groups. The Socialist Worker newspaper said that around four hundred people gathered to oppose the anti-choice groups. Flora from west London was on the counter protest for the third year in a row. She told Socialist Worker, “I’m feeling positive that the numbers on their side have shrunk from last year. But it’s clear we have to continue to fight for the right to abortion. It makes me sad and scared to be living in Britain when women are being jailed under a law from 1861, which is before we even had the right to vote!”
