Defending Trans Inclusion in Sports

10/12/2024

Top LGBTQIA newswire Pink News reports that endurance racing car driver Charlie Martin has backed trans inclusion in sports during an appearance on a BBC radio programme alongside self avowed transphobe, ex swimmer Sharron Davies.  Emily Chundy, writing to the Pink Newswire, says that whilst Davies wittered on about how transgender only categories need to be instituted in sport, Charlie noted that  “Trans people make up one per cent of the population… the idea that trans people will dominate sport against the other 99 per cent of people in the world is highly improbable.... “The vast majority of these people want to go to their local gym, play on their local sports team, these aren’t professional people trying to make a career and break world records, they’re just people who want to enjoy sport… these divisions are there.”  Ms Davies failed to come up with any response to this, and bored, the host of the radio segment, aired on the BBC Radio 4 network in the UK, moved on with the discussion.
