Greenpeace Criticises Popular Beauty Brand

16/06/2024

Many LGBT+ people use the brand Dove as part of their self care routines, attracted by their vegan formula and commitment to not testing on animals.  But the environmental group Greenpeace says that the company is not behaving in a responsible manner and is urging people to shop elsewhere for beauty bars and other items.  Greenpeace say "Dove say they care about ‘Real Beauty’. But there is no beauty in a brand that poisons our planet and threatens the health of our communities.   The mountains of plastic waste Dove produces each year is devastating entire ecosystems in the Global South. Their destructive behaviour must end now.   That’s why we’re pledging to ditch all Dove products this Summer.  This Summer marks a pivotal moment for Dove: the 20th anniversary of their iconic ‘Real Beauty’ campaign. They plan to celebrate their ‘achievements’ in style. But we won’t let them party whilst they’re pumping out harmful plastic".  More information is available at https://www.greenpeace.org.uk/
