Lesbian and queer women's magazine DIVA reports that whilst homophobia in the men's football game remains an issue, there are plenty of LGBT+ women playing for women's sides the length and breadth of the country. In an article that will delight fans of the beautiful game, they profile just a few of the gay, bi and queer women that will be playing in the Women’s European Qualifiers for Euro 2025. Among those they celebrate is Lauren Hemp, of whom they write "one of the Lionesses’ youngest stars, superstar forward Lauren Hemp is providing some much-needed LGBTQIA visibility to the pitch. The Manchester City player has been a crucial member of the England squad. In true footie fashion, Lauren has been dating fellow forward Ellie Butler who plays for Coventry since 2022.".
