The Guardian reports that thousands of women, many of them young and engaged with the political process, rallied across the United States on Saturday to urge voters, whether male, female or gender non conformist, to put aside their differences and vote against the Republican candidate and sitting President, Donald Trump. The rallies were socially distances and participants wore masks to reflect the difference in their approach to Covid19 and that of the President who was described as a “superspreader” by one speaker, who had “cost the lives of hundreds of thousands of Americans”. In Washington, Sonja Spoo, representing the reproductive rights group Ultraviolet, was in a positive mood, and felt optimistic about the future. She was asked about Trump contesting the result of the election. ““When we vote him out, come 3 November, there is no choice,” said Spoo. “Donald Trump will not get to choose whether he stays in power. That is not his power, that is our power … We are the hell and high water.”
