US Reactionaries Also Hurt Intersex People

The Texas Observer newspaper reports on the hypocrisy of those US states that have imposed bans on gender transition or affirmation services for young people.  Even whilst they have shut down these options for transgender youth, the authorities have ensured that intersex people are still subject to medically unnecessary interventions when still infants, just to force them into categories of male or female.  “What both the trans and intersex community are fighting for is the right to bodily autonomy, the right to feel safe in their bodies,” Bria Brown-King from the campaign group InterACT said. “That’s what we’re all fighting for and what’s important. That is what we all deserve.”
