Long standing ally of minority groups, the legendary singer Beyonce has paid tribute to the black gay dancer O’Shae Sibley, who was murdered last Saturday because he and several friends were voguing to one of Beyonce's songs. Vogueing of course, is a well known style of dance pioneered in the African-American, gay and Latino clubs of New York City in the nineteen eighties, and turned into a mainstream phenomenon by another long standing LGBT+ ally, Madonna with her 1990 hit of the same name. Pink News, reports that Beyonce posted a simple tribute, saying “Rest in power O’Shae Sibley”. Condemnation of the hate crime has come from across the black and gay communities in New York. House representative Ritchie Torres said “As an openly gay Black man myself, I feel deeply in my heart that ours should be a city and a country where we are free to be who we are without fear of intimidation, harassment, violence, and murder. An attack on the LGBTQI+ community is an attack on all of us as free people.” A Go Fund Me has so far secured over thirty thousand dollars to help pay for Mr Sibley's funeral service. https://www.gofundme.com/f/oshae-sibley
