Intersectional feminists, international LGBTQIA+ campaigners and advocates for secular democracy have joined with Iranian exiles and dissidents in slamming the US based porn actress Whitney Wright, who boasted on social media of a trip to the Islamist state, where women, LGBTQIA+ people and democrats are all ruthlessly suppressed. “American porn star Whitney Wright is in Iran, my birth country, where women are killed for simply showing their hair and being true to themselves,” US-based Iranian dissident, Masih Alinejad, wrote on X, saying Wright had been “completely covered up” in the images. At the ruins of the old US embassy in Tehran, which was closed down after the Islamic state took hostages between 1979 and 1981, Wright posed for a photograph next to a US flag on the ground. Whitney Wright is also accused by some people of anti-semitism for her views on Israel and Palestine. Association Femme Azadi, a France-based collective for Iranian women, said on social media: “Whitney Wright, an American porn star was invited to Tehran to promote the Islamic republic. They stop at nothing.”
