Fears Over Extremist Law in Uganda

09/04/2023

Pink News reports that the already highly anti-gay state of Uganda his trying to once again divert attention from its economic failings and poor quality of living standards by blaming LGBTQIA people. A new law, which many say will be somewhat difficult to enforce, takes advantage of the population’s highly conservative way of thinking and proposes to make any reference or support for gay or trans people punishable.  The BBC News channel says that so extreme is the new law, that even saying that you are gay will land you  life imprisonment.  Human Rights groups note that the country’s Parliament has been bankrolled by extreme religious organisations in the United States.
