Chicago's top LGBTQ podcast Feast of Fun has been getting ready for Hanukkah, the traditional Jewish midwinter time festival which actually commemorates the dedication of a key holy site in Judaism back in antiquity. Hanukkah is part of what the Americans call “Holiday Season”, which encompasses various beliefs and traditions in the run up to the end of the calendar year. Hosts of the Feast podcast, Marc and Fausto, have this week met with Jewish comic Meg Grunewald to discuss the history of Hanukkah and how to celebrate the festival. On the way, they learn that Hanukkah has been influenced by Christmas, and is also a time for indulgence, with fatty and carbohydrate rich foods traditionally on the menu. The podcast also touches on the unfolding political story in the White House after the Democrats winning of the Presidential race and looks at some of the other stories in the news. In 2020, Hanukkah will begin on Friday December 11th.
