Cricket Man Makes False Accusations on Fry

The Daily Mirror reports that a member of the Maryleone Cricket Club, one of the most historic and prestigious in the UK, has been suspended for an eighteen month period after falsely accusing gay raconteur and cricket fan Stephen Fry of making racist jokes.  The MCC found that seventy five year old Christopher Waterman, had made inaccurate and malicious complaints about Fry, who had addressed a club dinner in February.  It is not clear from the reports in the press whether Waterman was motivated by homophobia against the celebrated television personality, but the Daily Mail, a far right wing paper, has angled the story to suggest that Waterman should not have been disciplined.
