On Tuesday, September 21st LGBTQIA pagans will be marking the turning of the year's cycle to the Autumn equinox, when day and night are equal and from whence the Northern Hemisphere enters the darker half of the year. Deeply symbolic for the followers of many spiritual paths, this is the time of year in many traditions for Harvest festivals and marking a period of rest after the hard work that agrarian societies would have been through since the grain harvest started in August. The Glastonbury based pagan bookstore Goddess and the Green Man say “It is time to complete projects, to clear out and let go that which is no longer wanted or needed as we prepare for descent, so that the winter can offer a time for reflection and peace. And it is time to plant seeds of new ideas and hopes which will lie dormant but nourished in the dark, until the return of Spring”. The next pagan festival is that of Hallowe'en on 31st October, when the veil between the worlds is said to thin out. It is also a time for mid Autumn parties and has been described as the “Gay Christmas”! We look forward to that!
