The Brighton Seagull, an independent newspaper in the city some consider to be the gayest in the UK, meets with the founder of “Queer Christians Brighton” about mental health, homelessness, and developing resources for Brighton based LGBTQIA+ Christians. Genevieve founded their web based guide to churches in Brighton after experiencing a mental health crisis. They discuss the pseudo-therapy of “conversion” attempts by homophobic churches and on the plus side, their experiences with affirming compassionate congregations which celebrate LGBTQIA people and who have members of our community in leaderships positions.
