It’s Easter and LGBTQIA Christians will be sending their greetings for the most important festival in their liturgical calendar. It marks the Christian belief in the resurrection of Jesus of Nazareth after his execution by Roman forces around the year AD33. For all of us in the LGBTQIA community, enjoying the secular holidays around Easter, it is also worth remembering that, whilst there are right wing homophobes who hide behind a mask of religion to persecute and condemn, there are many, many Christians who support LGBTQIA civil rights. Examples of denominations or networks that are LGBTQIA friendly include the United Church of Christ, Unitarian Universalists, the Quakers (Society of Friends), Progressive Christian Network, parts of the Methodist Church, Catholics for Free Choice, Quest LGBTQIA Catholics, One Body One Faith, Metropolitan Community Church, United Reform Church, and many many others. We at “ShoutOut” and our family of radio stations, send our greetings to LGBTQIA Christians and their friends around the globe.
