High Summer Celebrations at Pagan Festival

31/07/2021

LGBTQIA Pagans will be looking forward to the weekend festival of Lammas, one of the eight fire festivals that punctuate the cycle of the seasons. It is high summer, and traditionally communities would gather the first harvest of grain under the early August sunshine. Celtic countries associated this period with the Sun God Lugh. Feasting, market fairs, games and bonfire celebrations were the order of the day. But at the same time,  the knowledge that the bounty and energy of Lugh, of the Sun, is now beginning to wane. It is a time of change and shift. Active growth is slowing down and the darker days of winter and reflection are beckoning. We wish you a blessed Lammas, however you are celebrating.
