A fundamentalist religious teacher employed by an academy in Bristol has lost her legal challenge to her dismissal for making obscene religious and homophobic remarks. The woman attacked other denominations of Christian before turning on a young student who identified as lesbian, telling her that she would roast in hell if she did not obey the woman. She further told students that as a teacher, her views were always correct and everyone else was wrong. After her dismissal, she turned to the hapless Christian Legal Centre, which is known for losing most of its cases in the courts. Sure enough, Pink News today reported that her case had been turned down with a sharp ruling by magistrates that noted her unsuitability for teaching. A spokesperson for Humanists UK, which represents people of no faith in the UK, welcomed the ruling and noted that the woman had tried to portray herself as a victim when in fact she was a perpetrator of bigotry and intolerance. LGBT groups also gave the ruling a warm welcome.
