What Are Your Top LGBTQ Protest Banners?

15/01/2021

Pink News, the top British gay newswire, reports that, with demonstrations and Pride marches on hold due to Covid19 in many parts of the world, internet users of the forum Redit are sharing their favourite historical and recent LGBTQ Pride protests signs. These have been liked many thousands of times on the platform. One man is pictured with his superbly drawn sign showing “The Real Gay Agenda”, a riposte to the right wing conspiracy theory that LGBTQ people are part of an international conspiracy. His sign reveals that the Agenda includes “Eating Tacos” and being “Super Gay” on a Saturday. Another placard, pictured being held aloft by a man of colour addresses those homophobic religious groups that claim that homosexuality is a “lifestyle choice”. It reads “Even if being gay was a choice, so what. People choose to be arseholes and they can get married”. Well done to all the gay placard and banner makers and all those in our rainbow spectrum of identities that have taken felt tip to card or sewing machine to cloth to make these signs. Keep them coming, and be sure to preserve your works for future generations to enjoy. One day history projects could be interested in them.
