On Saturday 26th April, Bristol along with other cities, saw further protests in support of LGBTQIA+ people and mobilisation of the community following the decision of a court to try and restrict the notion of "woman" in legal terms. Hundreds of trans people and their allies rallied on College Green, according to B247 newspaper. They were joined by a wide variety of organisations ranging from the Socialist Workers Party through to anarcho-queer spiritual networks. Following the conclusion of the demonstration, many marchers went on to lend their support to disability rights charities and organisations, who were also rallying in protest at the Labour government's closing down of benefits options for disabled people amidst a ramping up of anti-disabled rhetoric from the right wing newspapers. Crips Against Cuts, a grassroots disabled-led pressure group, hosted a series of protests across the country on Saturday, with more than hundred people showing up in Bristol. According to the group the government should “cut the rich, not the crips” as this would significantly affect support received by disabled people.
