Graham Smith, the CEO of Republic, a coalition of activists from across the political spectrum, from hard left to libertarian right, who wish to dissolve the British monarchical system, has spoken to the top gay newswire Pink News. Mr Smith says that he believes, despite recent moves by the Prince of Wales, Prince William, to speak about LGBTQIA people, the institution remains wholly homophobic and transphobic. Mr Smith says ““Essentially, we don’t have to put up with this circus. It is unprincipled, it is bad for Britain, bad for our democracy. The coronation is an opportunity to stand up and protest against it and getting rid of it is absolutely achievable”.
