BBC Radio Bristol reports that MPs from across the Parliamentary divides have united against a bizarre article in the far right wing Daily Mail newspaper which alleged that Labour’s Shadow Chancellor Angela Rayner had attempted to throw the Prime Minister off track during Parliamentary debates by repeatedly crossing and uncrossing her legs. Conservative, Labour, Liberal Democrat, Green, Plaid Cymru and SNP Members of the Commons all condemned the paper and some female members of the Conservative Party asked that action be taken against the Mail, which has always harried and harrassed female members of Parliament, particularly if they do not represent the paper’s right wing agenda. In a show of rare unity across Party differences, the Prime Minister himself said he deplored the misogyny of the article in the Mail and added that women in politics were a vital part of the country’s governance.
