The National Front, one of the UK's oldest neo-nazi parties, has been hounded out of a demonstration that it tried to infiltrate. The Campaign Against Antisemitism was holding a vigil outside the BBC in Central London, on 13th December, protesting what it describes as the broadcaster's bias in reporting a racist incident that took place during the Jewish festival of Hanukkah in London. The community newspaper The Jewish Chronicle reported that part way through the protest, participants noted Tony Martin, the current chair of the NF. Mr Martin was filming the event. He was ejected from the protest by people chanting “racist scum off our streets”. After Martin leaving the event, the protest continued with several speakers addressing a crwod of several hundred. A spokesperson for Campaign Against Antisemitism said: “Tonight’s rally sends a message to the BBC that the Jewish community has had enough of years of the BBC victim-blaming Jewish people for antisemitism, downplaying racism towards Jews, platforming antisemites and fuelling antisemitism in Britain.”
