LGBTQIA Political Groups Condemn Killing

22/10/2021

The LGBTQIA networks of major and minor political parties united at the weekend to pay tribute to a Member of Parliament stabbed to death whilst holding a constituency surgery. Sir David Ames was an opponent of LGBTQIA marriage equality. Nevertheless, the LGBT Conservative Group issued a statement saying: “Taken too soon and brutally murdered in the line of duty. A public servant and dedicated Conservative MP - who served his constituents for 38 years. “ LGBT Labour quoted their party leader Sir Keir Starmer, who said “Let us come together in the face of these terrible events. We will show once more that violence, intimidation and threats to our democracy will never prevail over the tireless commitment of public servants simply doing their jobs”. BBC News and other news channels are reporting that the man arrested after the incident appears to have been motivated by Islamist extremism and the killing of Sir David Ames is being treated as a terrorist related incident.
