London based drag queen Bimini was one of the people who addressed a benefit event for Stand Up to Racism in mid August. She spoke alongside figures such as Jeremy Corbyn, the left Labour MP, and long time anti-racist activist Weyman Bennett, according to the left wing newspaper Socialist Worker. They report "300 people ... joined Stand Up To Racism’s (SUTR) launch of its Stop The Far Right campaign. It came in the wake of the anti-racist mobilisations that turned the tide against the fascist riots this month. Chantelle Lunt is from Merseyside Black Lives Matter and a Labour councillor. “The far right is weaponising people’s anger and using it against people like me,” she said. “The only way to get rid of hate is together—the same people coming for migrants come for asylum seekers and LGBT+ people.” Drag Queen Bimini said the launch was “so important after the disgusting scenes” of the last few weeks. “The stakes couldn’t be higher,” she said. “The recent riots are a reminder of what happens when hatred is allowed to spread unchecked. “Racism, Islamophobia, transphobia and homophobia are part of the same fight.”
