For some time, teachers, teaching unions and professionals working in education have been warning about the baleful influence of the self-described misogynist and anti-women campaigner Andrew Tate, who is also a homophobe and an influencer of young males on social media. Teaching staff have described a sudden increase in disruptive behaviour by boys in all age groups, and a decline in respect for teachers generally, and many have linked this with Tate's stated positions, which include that no boy should respect a female teacher or do as they are instructed. Mr Tate, who Pink News notes is currently facing rape, human trafficking and exploitation allegations in Romania, also believes that a woman is the property of men, and that women who have more than one sexual partner are "sluts". A You Gov poll of over one thousand boys and young men from across classes and districts has found that an alarming number actively support Mr Tate's teaching about women. Pink News says that "data suggests that 23 per cent of UK boys aged between 13 and 15 have a positive view of the influencer, while 25 per cent agree with what he has to say". One gay teacher writing for the gay newswire in May said that Internet Hate was destroying young people, and threatened to destroy society itself. They noted, "Modern teenagers and children have been exposed to more harmful, often sexualised, online content than generations before them. A dangerous pressure is placed on young girls from every angle on social media, and Tate’s rhetoric continues to radicalise young boys. This manifestation of loud, rampant misogyny and abuse, spilling over into intolerant homophobia and transphobia, will continue to roll on in our schools until we, as a society, can get a handle on extinguishing the fires that social media fuels, and characters like Andrew Tate start".
