Gay singer and actor Will Young is to make a documentary on the sad loss of his twin brother, Rupert, who passed on two years ago after battling addiction and alcoholism for several decades.  The documentary, which has been commissioned by Channel Four Television, will shine a spotlight on the sorry state of mental health services in today’s austerity Britain.  The Birmingham Mail notes that Will had previously said that his brother should have been offered treatment under the Mental Health Act. Rita Daniels, Commissioning Editor for Channel 4 commented “We are very thankful to Will and his family for opening up about the sensitive and difficult topic of addiction and we hope Will’s profound tribute to his brother will go a long way to helping those going through similar issues.” The multimedia portal NME.com says that Will continues to remain active in causes he is passionate about.  He has worked with animal rights activists to protest a company that conducts laboratory tests on dogs.
