From Bank Holiday Saturday, 4th June, “ShoutOut” will be on the schedule of Bath’s dedicated community radio station, and will be going out every Saturday at 7pm.
Bath Radio can trace its history back 55 years to the swinging sixties when enthusiasts developed a radio service especially for the patients of hospitals in Bath. They were by far the earliest local radio service for the city. Over the years there have been other stations that have come and gone to serve Bath, such as Bath FM which operated on 107.9 FM in around 1999 to 2001, but was eventually subsumed into larger commercial networks and lost its ultra local focus. Bath City Sound was an internet radio station operating from around 2010 to 2012, but that too, eventually closed down. There have even been unlicensed pirate radio stations in Bath over the years. In 2018, a youth project radio station called BA-1 radio began to stream online and in 2020 they joined forces with Bath Hospital Radio to forge an exciting new project, mixing the experienced team at Bath Hospital Radio with a new input of youthful talent. The new channel, Bath Radio is now streaming round the clock at bathradio.org.uk, produces over thirty hours of original material a week and says that it has a new mission, to reach out further into the city to connect Bathonians through music, events, culture and the arts. "ShoutOut" is delighted to join the team at Bath Radio and to welcome our new listeners via this brilliant radio station. Like all the stations we broadcast on, Bath Radio are always looking for new volunteers, so if you are Bath based and would like to get involved in a service for the community by the community, drop them a line via the form at bathradio.org.uk.
