Caring Starbucks Staff Came to Woman's Aid

08/09/2023

The centre left daily paper the Mirror says that caring Starbucks employees, who are LGBTQ+ friendly, passed a subtle note to a young woman last year, who was being approached by an older man.  One of the baristas whipped out a cup and filled it with hot chocolate. They walked up to the girl and handed it to her, calling it "an extra hot chocolate someone forgot to pick up."   But the barista was offering more than just an extra drink — the cup contained a handwritten note that read: "Are you okay? Do you want us to intervene? If you do, take the lid off the cup."   It essentially offered a way out for the girl if she wanted to take it.  In the event, the offer was not needed, but the young woman's mother praised Starbucks coffee staff for their quick thinking and social conscience.  In a petty show of nastiness, heterosexual men took to hate sites such as Instagram to attack the Starbucks staff, using their usual slur "you're just woke liberals".  But, as one woman wrote "Straight Men need to stop approaching young women for idle chit chat, you caused this issue by being creepy and hitting on them, stop defending other men for doing it. My gosh can’t you police yourselves."
