Hatred is "Everywhere" Says Campaigner

19/10/2021

Hatred is “everywhere” on the internet, says the environmentalist and campaigner Chris Packham, who has accused internet companies such as Facebook of promoting division in the world and undermining democracy. Although not referencing anti-gay hate directly, Mr Packham was speaking to Victoria Derbyshire on the BBC News Channel on Monday 11th October. He spoke about a three year campaign of hatred waged against his property and person by people believed to be involved in the pro-hunting and anti-environmental lobby. These angry people, he reported were targetting campaigners who speak out against fox hunting and illegal shooting. Mr Packham said that Police had been excellent but called for a wider definition of hate crimes to include people who are targetted because of their progressive political beliefs.
