His intervention into the debate on transgender people might be considered somewhat long in appearing, but gay raconteur Stephen Fry, who had previously remarked that author Joanne Rowling "remained a friend" has quietly distanced himself from her remarks about transgender people, describing them as cruel and inhumane. Mr Fry made his statement in a podcast called The Show People which was transmitted from the Two Brewers- a well known London gay club. LGBTQ Nation newswire remarked "Gay English actor, author, and narrator of all seven Harry Potter audiobooks, Stephen Fry, has become the latest celebrity to condemn JK Rowling after working with the now-disgraced author. Fry claims TERFs (transgender-exclusionary radical feminists) have radicalized Rowling and he said he disagrees with her statements on trans people." At the same time, Mr Fry did note that any violent missives sent to people like Rowling, only entrench their hatred. He stated "“It is unhelpful and only hardens her and will only continue to harden her I am afraid. I am not saying that she not be called out when she says things that are really cruel, wrong and mocking,” Fry went on. “She seems to be a lost cause for us.” Online, right wing troll sites immediately went into meltdown at the publication of Mr Fry's comments. One, the demented "UnHerd" far right website, said that it was Fry that had been radicalised. As usual, however, they offered little other than their usual homophobic ranting to back up their position.
