The International Day of Pink fell on Wednesday 10th April. Whilst the pop star Pink is an LGBTQIA+ ally as well as a talented musician, this day was for the colour pink and not the star. Organisers explained on facebook "It started in Canada when a couple of students saw another boy being bullied at their school for wearing a pink shirt. They rallied their friends to all wear pink to support him. It's become a day to call out bullying and discrimination wherever you may see it -especially relating to homophobia and transphobia." Vancouver Pride Society added "Today, we wear pink as a statement against bullying and to show our support for 2SLGBTQAI+ visibility and advocacy. Let’s take steps to create a world where everyone, especially our queer & trans youth, feels safe, seen and valued. Inspired by the 2024 theme, ‘Visibility,’ it's imperative that we work against hateful acts and beliefs that threaten the 2SLGBTQAI+ community and the progress made toward equality". Celebrate the colour and embrace your true identity. Pink rules!
