The national pop music radio network Heat, which broadcasts on DAB services in the UK, has reported that pop fans can relive the tumultuous nineties on a cruise from England and Amsterdam next September. Bands performing will include boyband favourite 911 who achieved quite a bit of coverage in the gay papers back in the day, plus Totally Spice, the country’s top tribute to the Spice Girls. The Spice Girls had a massive lesbian and gay following, and reinvigorated feminism, bringing the energy of the early nineties Riot Girl movement to the popular music mainstream. Perhaps you remember listening them to on nineties radio stations like GWR here in the West Country, or the longwave giant, Atlantic 252 broadcasting from the Republic of Ireland. However you recall the nineties, if you fancy cruising across the North Sea in September, visit the Heat Radio and magazine website for entry details.
