Transphobic Slurs May Be Legal Defamation

10/10/2023

Pink News reports that activists are urging actor David Tennant, best known for his work in the drama serials  "Casanova" and "Doctor Who" to consider taking legal action against anti-gay and anti-transgender extremist Kellie Jay Keen Minshull, who accused Mr Tennant of being a paedophile because of his allyship of LGBTQIA people.  Calling gay people, trans people and their allies paedophiles has been a preferred far right wing modus operandi since before the Stonewall era.  A lawyer previously told PinkNews that people who call others ‘groomer’, ‘paedophile’ or other anti-LGBTQ+ slurs online could be in “serious danger of being sued”.  With the internet and social media awash with these calumnies against LGBTQIA people and their allies, many now believe that engaging in court is the best way to regulate the egregious unlawful behaviour of people such as Joanne Rowling and Ms Keen Minshull.
