Planned Parenthood, which is the largest US network advocating for reproductive freedom, has called for concerted and united action following the Supreme Court, packed with right wing activist judges, overturned the fifty year old legalisation of abortion throughout the USA. Addressing many other groups in society, who fear that right wing politicians will soon come after them, Planned Parenthood noted “Make no mistake: This decision goes beyond abortion. This wrongful ruling is about power and control. What rights will this court take away next? Who has power over you, who has the authority to make decisions for you, and who can control how your future is going to be? It goes against the will of the American people and overturns nearly 50 years of precedent.”. NARAL Pro Choice America, a campaign group with more than two and a half million members, warned that people in the US needed to prepare for a fight to regain control of reproductive choices. NARAL President Mini Timmaraju said “This decision is the worst-case scenario, but it is not the end of this fight. The 8 in 10 Americans who support the legal right to abortion will not let this stand. There is an election in November, and extremist politicians will learn: when you come for our rights, we come for your seats.”
