Mental health and emotional wellness campaigners are praising Britain's second television channel, ITV, also transmitted as ITV1, which has launched a series of promotions featuring key stars and celebrities on the channel's roster encouraging people to chat to friends and support groups about their mental health and offer support and sympathy. The initiative is taking place with the support of charities such as Mind and Young Minds, both of which have LGBTQIA+ services. Stars taking part in the promotions that are aired in commercial breaks on the channel, include pin up Dermot O'Leary, once voted by gay magazine Attitude as one of the sexiest men on television, and Bristol linked presenter Maya Jama. ITV is transmitted in the UK and began life in 1955 as the country's first commercial broadcaster (not counting overseas commercial radio stations such as Radio Luxembourg and Radio Normandy, which were operational and beamed into Britain via powerful transmitters as early as 1926).
