The national mental health charity MHF has been in touch with its supporters across the UK. They say that the results of a major survey on the effects of the Covid19 outbreak on the mental health of young people are now in. The statistics paint a picture of a cohort group that experiences distress on most days, and which is closely linked to class, in that youngsters from working class backgrounds are more likely to experiences symptoms of emotional health problems than those from middle and upper middle class homes. The Mental Health Foundation goes on to say: “we are calling for cross-government action to safeguard children during school closures. There is an urgent need to address the financial and physical security of young people and their families, including through the welfare system, housing regulations and measures to ensure all young people have essentials such as food and warmth. “ To get involved in the Foundation's campaign, visit mentalhealth.org.uk
