RTE Ireland reports that school authorities in the Republic have been victorious in a long standing court case against fundamentalist Christian teacher Enoch Burke. Mr Burke had been suspended from Wilson's Hospital School after refusing to use a transgender student's preferred pronouns. After being suspended, Burke continued to harass the school, the court ruled, trespassing on to its property and aggressively contacting its headteacher. Mr Burke, who earned himself the monicker "silly Burke" in the Irish gay press for his continued antics, considered himself above the democratic law of the land, and refused to follow court orders. RTE notes "His continued refusal to comply with those orders resulted in him being found in contempt of court and his incarceration for 108 days. Following his release from prison he has continued to breach the injunction and was being subjected to a daily fine of €700".
